There are two classes within the school:
Class 1 Foundation Stage and Years 1 and 2.
Class 2 Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Transition Year - this refers to our year 3 pupils who are based in class 1 but begin to mix with the older children based on their individual needs. We have found this to be really successful in ensuring the children confidently move from one Key Stage to the other.
Teaching may be either whole class, or group work within the class, depending on the demands of the different subjects. Teaching styles are also dependent upon the subject and the type of learning taking place, they will vary from very active, practical based teaching to a more formal approach. This way the different learning styles of all pupils can be catered for.
Each member of teaching staff each have their own curriculum strengths which are utilized by them teaching this area across the whole age range. This ensures that the very most is made of our small staffing structure and has the added advantage of all staff knowing all the children very well. We feel this contributes to our very strong family ethos and enhances the caring and nurturing elements of our very special school.
